Veteran Sharpshooter Abilities and Passives

To be an effective Veteran Sharpshooter you need to learn to use your Grenades effectively and time your ultimate to react to bigger enemies instantly.

  • Volley Fire (Ultimate) - Enter a ranged stance for 4 seconds, instantly equipping your ranged weapon, and designating nearby Elite and Specialist enemies as priority targets. During this stance you deal 50% more ranged damage.
  • Frag Grenade (Ability) - Fragmentation Grenade that explodes after a short fuse timer.
  • Scavenger Hunt (Passive)- You and allies in Coherency gain a small amount of Ammo whenever any of you kill an elite enemy.
  • Make Every Shot Count (Passive) - 15% Weak Spot Damage.
  • Be Prepared (Passive) - Increased Ammo reserve for all ranged weapons by 75%.

What Talents should you use as a Veteran Sharpshooter

Selecting the correct Talents is key to success, especially in higher difficulties. Of course these talents are different depending on your build in Darktide. Lets take a look at the talents we pick for this build:

  • Lvl 5 - At Arm's Length
  • Lvl 10 - Demolition Stockpile
  • Lvl 15 - Demolition Team
  • Lvl 20 - Unwavering Focus
  • Lvl 25 - Frag Storm
  • Lvl 30 - Crackshot

You will notice that most of the talents are focused on getting more Grenades and having high damage for a short duration to take down bigger enemies.

At Arm's Length - Level 5

Replenish 7% Toughness per second while more than 8 meters away from the enemy. This talent allows you to slowly recover Toughness without having to go into melee as long as enemies are 8 meters or further away.

Demolition Stockpile - Level 10

Replenish 1 Grenade every 45 seconds. This is a must have perk, allows you to faster resupply your Grenades and trust me, you need a lot of them!

Demolition Team - Level 15

You and your allies in Coherency have a 8% chance to gain a Grenade on enemy kill. Another perk that focuses on recovering Grenades. Even better if you have a second Sharpshooter in your group.

Unwavering Focus - Level 20

75% Toughness damage reduction from ranged attacks during Volley Fire. While Volley Fire is active you want to deal as much damage as possible. Even if you stand in crossfire it won't matter much as you take 75% less damage on your Toughness.

Frag Storm - Level 25

Frag Grenades apply 1 stack of Bleed to all enemies hit. With this talent for the Veteran Sharpshooter in Darktide Grenades now also deal Bleed damage, which is a damage over time effect.

Crackshot - Level 30

75% armour penetration during Volley Fire. With the Crackshot talent you will do even more damage with Volley Fire, ignoring most of the enemies armor.

How to use Grenades correctly as Sharpshooter

Managing your Grenades properly will be your main focus for the Veteran Sharpshooter Build in Darktide. While you technically have "infinite" Grenades it still takes time for them to recover. Other builds that don't use the Demolition Stockpile or Demolition Team will have to pick up Grenades via the Grenade ammunition box.

But luckily we have those two talents and they give us access to endless Grenades. So how and when should you use them?

Grenades should only be used when you are being swarmed by a lot of enemies. That is the perfect time to blow up most of them with one Grenade. If there is a second charge coming you have more Grenades at your disposal. Even more are coming? No problem, you still have Grenades at your disposal or you might have already recovered one or two additional grenades. Boom Boom Boom, everything is dead.

While it won't necessarily kill the Elites, it might knock them down, giving you additional time to plan movement. In most scenarios Elites are also only dangerous if accompanied by hordes of monsters. Not a problem for your team because of all the Grenades that are flying around!

  • Unlimited Grenades
  • Use Grenades when swarmed by lots of enemies
  • Grenades knock down enemies

Weapons for the Veteran Sharpshooter Build

The Veteran Sharpshooter Build for Darktide can use various weapons. For this build we are using a Sapper Shovel for melee and a Heavy Lasgun for ranged combat. The Lasgun is used to take out separate enemies and high value targets such as elites. The Shovel is used to fight in melee when hordes of enemies appear. And if that isn't enough you can still throw a Grenade or two.

Veteran Sharpshooter Melee Weapon

The Sapper Shovel is a great melee weapon and fits this build perfectly. The shovel is great when hordes of monsters show up and you just need to cleave your way through them. The attack speed of the Sapper Shovel is also very fast, giving you the opportunity to hit the enemy many times. The heavy attack of the shovel is very wide so you can hit most of the enemies at once in front of you.

Veteran Sharpshooter Ranged Weapon

The Veteran Sharpshooter Build uses a Lasgun for its ranged weapon. There are three different types of Lasguns, make sure to pick the heavy Lasgun which has high damage but a slower firing rate. This is important because we use this gun to kill separate enemies and elites.

Elites are killed fast when you use the ultimate Volley Fire which gives you a 50% damage boost. Even better if you are already level 30 and have the Crackshot talent unlocked, which gives you 75% more armor penetration during Volley Fire.
