How Much of Darktide will be Playable During the Beta?

How Much of Darktide will be Playable During the Beta?

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide's closed beta is planned to start at 4am EDT this Friday, with beta keys already being sent out to players who signed up. Not everyone who signed up is getting a key, however the number of players that are getting in is much higher than it was during the previous technical beta.

Those with access who are planning to jump into the beta might be wondering if the entire game will be playable, and if not, exactly how much of the game will be available to play.

What will feature in the Darktide Closed Beta?

We will only have access to part of the game in this beta.

Starting off with characters and classes, the character creation will be enabled, and there will be four classes to choose from (presumably one class from each of the four archetypes; Veteran, Zealot, Ogryn and Psyker). You will be able to create and save up to four characters in the beta.

Not all of Darktide's weapons will be available in the beta, there will only be a selection of them that can be used, but we don't know what proportion of the in-game weapons will be enabled, or which ones. Fatshark said we will have a "select handful" which implies that the majority won't be available.

As for levels, there will be four full levels to play through in the beta, and if you have friends who also have beta access, you will be able to group and play with them (however cross play will not be enabled). Not all enemy types will be in the game just yet, but again we don't know which ones will be missing.

There will be some side-objectives available to complete, along with unlockable cosmetic items which you can equip and use on your characters.

If you're a content creator wanting to cover the beta, then you don't have anything to worry about - Fatshark have said that streaming the game is perfectly fine.

Lastly, we should mention that if you're planning to spend a lot of time in the beta just to get a head start in terms of progress before the official release, then that's not going to work because all player progress will be wiped after the beta ends.

We're looking forward to jumping into the beta. If you are unlucky and don't get access then stay tuned, as we will continue to cover Darktide news and content up to and after the game releases on November 30th.
