Fatshark Added the Feature Everyone was Asking for in Darktide
During the beta tests for Darktide, many players were critical of the way in which information about weapons was presented in the game's UI. More specifically, pretty much every numerical value was represented as a bar, or not represented at all, which made theory-crafting very difficult and left players unsure of if a seemingly better weapon was actually better than their old one or not.
Fatshark fixed this problem pretty thoroughly in time for yesterday's launch, as the game now shows a huge wealth of information about weapons, including precise damage values for every attack that a weapon can perform, how each weapon impacts your sprinting and dodging, and more.
To begin with, when viewing a weapon in the Armoury, Requisitorium or in your inventory, the basic stats screen shows more precise numbers than it used to, a definite upgrade from the vague bars and icons that were in the beta.
You can then get an extremely detailed breakdown of everything you could possibly want to know about your weapon by pressing V to inspect, and then pressing Tab to see the weapon's precise damage values for every attack type.
Perhaps there's even a bit too much for the game to handle right now, as attempting to view the damage breakdown of a weapon's special action will cause the game to crash. This will probably be fixed before too long, though.
While you definitely don't need to delve this deep into weapon stats to play and enjoy the game, it's going to be a very useful tool for players who want to create optimized builds on higher difficulties, as you'll be able to see in advance if your weapon attacks will dish out enough damage against a particular enemy type to one shot them, for example. We have already created a guide that shows the HP of each enemy in each difficulty to help with this type of theory-crafting.
