Darktide Has a Major Bug on Release - Here's What You Need to Know
Yesterday's launch of Darktide introduced a new bug into the game that was not present in the pre-order beta, and it's a pretty big one, too. The bug revolves around Toughness, and it is failing to protect some players from health damage as it is supposed to.
Toughness is the blue "shield" bar on top of your health bar, and can be regenerated by defeating enemies or sticking near team mates. Fatshark made some changes to Toughness in the release patch, reworking how much bleed-through damage the player takes through their Toughness bar.
Unfortunately these changes had an unintended consequence - anyone who has more than 100 Toughness on their character will take both Toughness and Health damage from every hit they receive.
This is especially problematic if you are playing as the Veteran Sharpshooter class, because this class has a base Toughness of 200, with no way of reducing it to 100 to avoid the bug.
You will also be affected if you have Curios equipped on your character that increase your Toughness above 100.
Fatshark is already investigating possible remedies for this bug, but in the meantime it's probably a good idea to remove any effects from your character that increase Toughness, and you might also want to play a different class besides Veteran Sharpshooter if you are struggling with taking lots of damage.
