All Warhammer 3 Lord Defeat Traits [89/89] for Immortal Empires

All Warhammer 3 Lord Defeat Traits [89/89] for Immortal Empires

Andrew 2 years ago

This page is a complete list of all Legendary Lord defeat traits in Total War: Warhammer III's Immortal Empires campaign. Whenever one of your lords defeats a Legendary Lord in battle, they will earn the defeat trait associated with that Legendary Lord.

These traits have a variety of effects, and can buff your lord in WH3, their army or even your entire faction. Factionwide effects can be stacked by getting the same trait on multiple lords in Immortal Empires, for example you can repeatedly defeat Repanse de Lyonesse on several different lords to increase your research rate, which is a good strategy when playing as the Tomb Kings, who have very long research times normally and depend on certain technologies to increase their army capacity.

Beastmen

The bulk of Beastmen war herds are focused on outmaneuvering their enemies while remaining unseen, with fast moving infantry that can stalk (remain hidden in any terrain while moving), however they also have some heavy hitting monstrous units at their disposal, such as minotaurs and the vile jabberslythes.

None of their defeat traits are super powerful, but you might find Khazrak's defeat trait helpful if you are fighting against ambush-heavy factions (especially Skaven).

Bretonnia

Bretonnia boasts the best heavy cavalry in Warhammer 3, including the very dangerous Grail Guardians and Royal Hippogryph Knights. Their infantry is by comparison pretty weak, but they can make up for it with Paladins, strong melee heroes who can shore up their ranks.

The most useful trait from Bretonnia is normally Repanse's trait, which makes your research faster. You can farm the trait on multiple lords to increase the effect.

Alberic de Bordeleaux

  • Research Rate: +5% (factionwide)

The Fay Enchantress

Witchfinder General

  • Casualty Replenishment Rate: +10% (Lord's Army)

Chaos Dwarfs

The Chaos Dwarfs are long seperatated from their other Dwarfen kin, having given themselves over to the minor Chaos God Hashut. They are masterful engineers and can also call upon magic and some daemonic units in battle.

Astragoth Ironhand

Astragone

  • Effect Duration: +10% for Lores of Hashut, Death, Fire and Metal spells (Lord Only)
  • Effect Range: +10% for Lores of Hashut, Death, Fire and Metal spells (Lord Only)

  • Missile Resistance: +15% (Lord Only)

Zhatan the Black

Laboured

  • Magic item Drop Chance: +40% (Lord's Army)
  • Range: +15% for artillery units (Lord's Army)

Daemons of Chaos

Daemons of Chaos is a Chaos Undivided race, that can call upon units from all four Chaos Gods, giving them a vast and dangerous roster.

The Daemon Prince

Slayer of the God-Slayer

  • Diplomatic Relations: +20 with Kislev (Faction, can be stacked by getting the trait on multiple Lords)
  • Attrition: -50% casualties suffered from all attrition (Lord's Army)

Dark Elves

The Dark Elves are mainly centered around highly aggressive melee play, with fast moving and hard hitting infantry units. However they also have very powerful armor piercing crossbowmen, especially the Shades who can very quickly take care of most units in the game, if they stray too close.

None of the Dark Elf defeat traits are especially powerful, but you might want to get Hellebron's trait if you just want to make your lord better at dishing out melee damage.

Crone Hellebron

The Day After

  • Armor-Piercing Weapon Damage: +20
  • Melee Attack: +5

Lokhir Fellheart

Black Ark Down

  • Immune to Storm and Reef attrition (Lord's Army)

  • Passive ability: Frenzy (Lord Only)

Malus Darkblade

  • Hero self-defence: +10% chance of wounding aggressors (Heroes in local province)

Rakarth

Beastmaster of None

  • Bonus vs large: +8 (Lord Only)
  • Leadership: -5 for enemy monstrous units (local enemy armies)

Dwarfs

The Dwarfs favour a defensive style of warfare, as their small stature and heavy armor prevents them from moving around quickly. Their frontline infantry can hold the line longer than pretty much anyone else, buying time for their supremely powerful artillery units to smash their enemies to a pulp.

Thorgrim's trait is very good for increasing your research rate (even better than Repanse's trait).

Belegar Ironhammer

Kinghammer

  • Leadership: +4 during subterranean intercept battles
  • Melee attack: +10 during subterranean intercept battles

Grombrindal - The White Dwarf

Beardhammer

  • Attribute: Causes terror when fighting against dwarfs (Lord Only)

Thorgrim Grudgebearer

Grudgekiller

  • Construction cost: -10% for all buildings (local province)
  • Research rate: +10% (factionwide)

Ungrim Ironfist

Slayer King Slayer

  • Melee Attack: +5 (Lord Only)
  • Spell Resistance: +5% (Lord Only)
  • Missile Resistance: +5% (Lord Only)

Grand Cathay

Cathay's playstyle is not too dissimilar to that of the Dwarfs, as they also field strong defensive infantry and devastating artillery. However they can also mix things up with some cavalry units, and the huge Terracotta sentinels.

Both of the Cathay defeat traits provide defensive buffs to your entire army.

Miao Ying

Very Cold, Still Aloof

  • Attribute: Expert Charge Defence (Lord Only)
  • Melee Defence: +3 (Lord's Army)

Zhao Ming

Merciless to Ming

  • Magic item drop chance: +10% (Lord Only)
  • Armor: +5 (Lord's Army)

Greenskins

Greenskins can play differently on the battlefield depending on if their army is made up of Orcs, Goblins or an even mix of both. Orcs simply like to charge in and hit the enemy as hard as possible, whereas Goblins tend to favour a more sneaky and less direct approach.

There are a lot of good traits in here - you might want to get Wurrzag's trait to improve your lord's physical resistance (useful for "one-man doomstacks"), or Skarsnik's to make your army highly adept at setting up and avoiding ambushes.

Azhag the Slaughterer

Greenskinner

  • Spell Resistance: +30% (Lord Only)

Grimgor Ironhide

Hidestriker

  • Armor-Piercing Weapon Damage: +20 (Lord Only)
  • Armor: +10 (Lord Only)

Grom the Paunch

Weightwatcher

  • Diplomatic Relations: +10 with High Elves (Faction, can be stacked multiple times by defeating Grom with several lords)
  • Attribute: Causes Terror when fighting against Greenskins (Lord's Army)

Skarsnik

  • Ambush Success Chance: +20% (Lord's Army)
  • Ambush Defence Chance: +20% (Lord's Army)

Wurrzag da Great Green Prophet

Great Green Killer

  • Physical Resistance: +10% (Lord Only)

High Elves

The High Elves have a fairly balanced roster, with good spearmen, decent cavalry options and a selection of powerful dragons. Their main strength are their archers, who have very high range and even their basic tier 1 archers do pretty high damage.

Tyrion's trait is decent if you have a melee focused army, but none of the High Elf traits are especially strong.

Alarielle the Radiant

Neverqueen

  • Control: +4 (Local Province)
  • Chance of Winds of Magic increasing in strength when changing: +5% (local region)
  • Growth: +10 (Local Province)

Alith Anar

  • Hero action cost: -15% (local region)
  • Hero action success chance: +10% (local region)

Eltharion the Grim

Mistpiercer

  • Missile Resistance: +10% (Lord only)
  • Attribute: Charge Defence vs Large (Lord only)

  • Bonus vs Large: +10 (Lord only)
  • Fire Resistance: +25% (Lord only)

Tyrion

Ulthuan Undefended

  • Melee Attack: +2 (Lord's Army)
  • Recruit Rank: +1 for all units (Lord's Army)

Khorne

Khorne abhors magic, and his armies are mainly focused on dealing crushing damage in melee. There is only one Khorne defeat trait at the moment, and its effects reflect this strategy.

Skarbrand

Bloodquencher

  • Charge Bonus: +5 (Lord's Army)
  • Weapon Strength: +8% (Lord's Army)

Kislev

Kislev is a very versatile faction, with their infantry trained to be skilled in both melee and ranged combat.

None of their defeat traits are especially powerful, but you may find Kostaltyn or Boris' traits useful if you have leadership problems in your army.

Boris Ursus

Red Dead

  • Leadership: +8 when fighting against Warriors of Chaos, Daemons of Chaos and Norsca (Lord's Army)

Kostaltyn

Faith-Breaker

  • Leadership: +6 when in own territory (Lord's Army)
  • Enables Flaming Attacks (Lord only)

Tzarina Katarin

Ice Lode Crusher

  • Enables Frostbite Attacks (Lord only)
  • Attribute: Causes Terror when fighting against Kislev (Lord only)

Lizardmen

The Lizardmen's most powerful units are their monsters, as their roster boasts a large selection of dinosaurs which can devastate enemies both in melee and at range.

Nakai's trait is really useful for making your lord a better fighter.

Gor-Rok

Movable Mountain

  • Leadership: +4 (Lord's Army)
  • Attribute: Expert Charge Defence (Lord only)

Kroq-Gar

Saurussmiter

  • Control: +2 (local province)
  • Melee Defence: +10 (Lord only)

Tiktaq'to

Out of the Skies

  • Campaign movement range: +10% (Lord's army)
  • Campaign line of sight: +10% (Lord only)

Neutral

This section is for Lords that don't fit into any of the factions or races. Currently we only have Gotrek here.

Gotrek

Legendslayer

  • Attribute: Unbreakable (Lord only)

Norsca

Norsca is primarily a melee faction with armies designed to overrun an enemy's defences and cause chaos in their lines, with units like War Mammoths who can force their way through pretty much anything in their path.

Norscan defeat traits aren't supremely powerful, but they are decent for making your lord better at fighting.

Surtha Ek

Surtha Wrecked

This trait is only available to Settra the Imperishable

  • Unit Capacity: +10 for Skeleton Chariot
  • Armor: +10 for Chariot Units (Lord's Army)

Throgg

Troll Hunter

  • Bonus vs Large: +15% (Lord only)
  • Weapon Strength: +3% (Lord only)

Wulfrik the Wanderer

Blood Feuder

  • Bonus vs Infantry: +5 (Lord only)
  • Charge Bonus: +10% (Lord only)

Nurgle

Defeating Nurgle's hordes and surviving to tell the tale will earn your lords resistances to Nurgle's plagues and bolster growth in your lands.

Ku'gath Plaguefather

Air Freshener

  • Chance of a plague spreading: -80% (Lord's Army)
  • Growth: +30 (local province)

Ogre Kingdoms

Ogres are very strong on the charge, using their great size to their advantage.

If you have a lot of trade partners, then you might want to get Greasus' trait to bolster your trade income.

Greasus Goldtooth

Cashing Out

  • Income from Trade: +10%
  • Income from all buildings: +20% (local province)

Skrag the Slaughterer

Maw's the Pity

  • Winds of Magic reserve capacity: +8 (Lord's Army)
  • Miscast Base Chance: -10% (Lord only)

Skaven

The Skaven are a (mostly) cowardly but unending horde of ratmen, and overrun their enemies with their sheer numbers. Some Skaven armies also make use of stealth or overwhelming firepower from their weapons teams and artillery, fueled by Warpstone.

Getting Throt's trait is probably a good idea if you want to make a "one-man doomstack" build for your lord, as the extra hitpoints are very important for this.

Deathmaster Snikch

Deathmaster by Nature

  • Hero action success chance: +4% (local region)
  • Attribute: Stalk (Lord only)

Ikit Claw

A 'Fitting' End?

  • Winds of Magic power reserve change: +10% when increasing (Lord's Army)
  • Research rate: +10% (factionwide)

Queek Headtaker

Verminflail

  • Bonus vs Infantry: +10 (Lord only)

Throt the Unclean

Deep Cleaner

  • Hit Points: +10% (Lord only)

Tretch Craventail

Craven by Name...

  • Speed: +12% (Lord only)
  • Leadership: +4 during Subterranean Intercept Battles (Lord's Army)

Slaanesh

The forces of Slaanesh have a similar playstyle to the Dark Elves, using fast and aggressive units to devastate enemy lines. They are probably better at this than the Dark Elves are, but lack the versatility of strong missile units.

N'Kari

Tyrion Owes Me

  • Experience gain: +7% for Lords and Heroes (factionwide)
  • Speed: +6% (Lord's Army)

The Empire

The Empire fields a balanced military that makes use of dependable melee units with equally dependable gunpowder units. They don't really excel at anything, but they are good all rounders and can cause enemies problems with their versatility.

Volkmar's trait is pretty useful at buffing melee infantry, so you might want to get that one if your armies are mostly concentrated around this.

Balthasar Gelt

Metalstorm

  • Armor: +6 for all units (Lord's Army)

Karl Franz

Reikshammer

  • Unit XP gain: +10% (Lord's Army)

Markus Wulfhart

Hunted Down

  • Missile Resistance: +10% (Lord only)
  • Missile Damage: +5% (Lord's Army)

Volkmar the Grim

Grimsbane

  • Melee Defence: +3 for melee infantry units (Lord's Army)
  • Melee Attack: +3 for melee infantry units (Lord's Army)

Tomb Kings

The Tomb Kings field a pretty balanced array of undead legions, but they have access to very powerful late game constructs like the Necrosphinx which can cause many problems for their enemies.

If you want to make friends with the Vampire Counts, then defeating Khalida with several different lords will help you to do this.

Arkhan the Black

Arkhan the Blackened

  • Diplomatic Relations: +20 with Tomb Kings (Faction, you can stack this effect multiple times by defeating Arkhan with several lords)
  • Weapon Strength: +25% when fighting against Vampire Counts (Lord only)

  • Recruit Rank: +2 for missile units (Lord's Army)

Settra the Imperishable

Settra the Perishable

  • Charge Bonus: +15 (Lord only)
  • Control: -3 (local enemy province)

True Chariot Master

This trait is only available for Surtha Ek

  • Weapon Strength: +100% for Chaos Chariot units (Lord's Army)

Tzeentch

The forces of Tzeench obliterate their enemies from range with powerful magical projectiles, and bolster their own staying power with magical barriers, which recharge when they are out of combat.

Kairos Fateweaver

Didn't See That Coming

  • Winds of Magic Power Reserve capacity: +5 (Lord's Army)
  • Spell Resistance: +15% (Lord's Army)

Vampire Coast

Vampire Coast armies are lumber awkwardly around the battlefield for the most part, as they are not in the best condition due to their undeath and exposure to the sea. However, they have very strong gunpowder units, and their Necrophex Colossi can deal massive damage to enemy armies before they even get close enough to do something about it.

None of their defeat traits are amazingly strong, but you might find Aranessa's trait useful if you are sacking settlements a lot to make money.

Aranessa Saltspite

Consigned to the Drink

  • Income from Sacking Settlements: +15% (Lord only)
  • Passive ability: Regeneration when fighting at sea (Lord only)

Count Noctilus

Dreadfleet Drowned

  • Leadership: +5 when fighting against Vampire Coast (Lord's Army)
  • Leadership: +5 when fighting at sea (Lord's Army)

Cylostra Direfin

Siren Extinguished

  • Miscast base chance: -5% (Lord only)
  • Winds of Magic power reserve change: +15% when increasing (Lord's Army)

Luthor Harkon

One Down, X to Go

  • Spell Resistance: +15% (Lord only)
  • Leadership: +10 when fighting at sea (Lord only)

Vampire Counts

The Vampire Counts have two main playstyles - either overwhelming the enemy with hard-hitting undead monsters, or simply tying them down with waves of skeletons while their powerful mages unleash horrific spells on them.

Defeating Isabella is one of the possible ways of getting Regeneration on your Lord, which is good for making them self-sufficient in prolonged combat.

Heinrich Kemmler

Lichekiller

  • Spell Resistance: +10% (Lord's Army)

Helman Ghorst

Ghorst or Ghost?

  • Enables Poison attacks (Lord only)

Isabella von Carstein

Cruelty Restrained

Vlad von Carstein

Undeath Ascendant

  • Wound Recovery Time: -4 turns (Lord only)

Warriors of Chaos

The Warriors of Chaos is a loose collection of Chaos factions who can draw upon units from all four Chaos Gods.

Defeating Kholek and/or Valkia will help to make your lord better in various combat situations.

Archaon the Everchosen

Doomslayer

  • Spell Resistance: +10% (Lord only)
  • Physical Resistance: +5% (Lord only)

  • Physical Resistance: +10% (Lord only)

Valkia the Bloody

Queen Dethroned

  • Melee Attack: +4 (Lord only)
  • Armor-Piercing weapon damage: +20 (Lord only)

Vilitch the Curseling

Conjoined Separated

  • Winds of Magic power reserve change: +10% when increasing (Lord's Army)
  • Melee Defence: +5 (Lord only)

Wood Elves

The Wood Elves field arguably the strongest roster in the game, with a roster that includes sturdy cavalry, dangerous melee infantry, monsters and of course their archers, which have very high range, very high damage, can fire while moving and in some cases remain hidden while doing so. Their only weakness is their lack of artillery, but they are so good at everything else that they don't really need it.

Their defeat traits on the other hand, are not very good at all. Defeating Drycha and Orion might at least give you a small advantage in subsequent battles against Wood Elves.

Drycha

Destroyer of Dryads

  • Immune to Athel Loren and Awakened Forest attrition (Lord's Army)
  • Control: -5 (Local Enemy Province)

Durthu

Tree Surgeon

  • Enables flaming attacks when fighting against Wood Elves (Lord only)

  • Leadership: +4 during forest battles (Lord only)
  • Melee Attack: +5 during forest battles (Lord only)

Sisters of Twilight

Twilight Extinguished

  • Casualty Replenishment Rate for Lords: +20% (Lord's Army)
  • Missile Strength: +10% (Lord only)

That concludes the list of Legendary Lord defeat traits in Total War: Warhammer III (WH3). This page is up to date as of TWWH3 version 2.2.0, and will be updated whenever new Legendary Lords are added to the game, or if an existing defeat trait is changed by Creative Assembly
