The Sims 4 is Going Free to Play

The Sims 4 is Going Free to Play

The popular life and social simulation game The Sims 4 is set to become free to play from October 18th, making the game a little bit more accessible for new players. I say a little bit, since The Sims 4 is often available at a large discount.

The plethora of expansion packs will still cost their normal amount, but players who already own the Sims 4 will instead get the Desert Luxe Kit for free.

EA probably decided to do this to introduce new players to the game, some of whom may later be tempted to purchase some of the DLC content - if you don't wait for a discount, buying all of this costs in the vicinity of $1,000 if you want the full experience with all available content.

However, there is speculation that this may signal the next Sims game being announced in the near future.

There is an EA and Maxis livestream titled "Behind the Sims" scheduled for October 18th, the same day that the Sims 4 becomes free to play, leading to speculation that an announcement could be made about the next Sims game then.

Only time will tell if there is any merit to this speculation, but one thing is for certain, if you like to pick up free games when you can, then you will be able to add The Sims 4 to your collection in just over a month.
