The Sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence is Coming Very Soon

A Plague Tale: Innocence released in 2019 and was a well-received story-driven game, putting the player in the shoes of Amicia, a 15 year old girl in 14th Century France during the Hundred Years War. Hunted by the French Inquisition during an outbreak of the plague, players would need to utilize stealth and solve various puzzles in order to keep Amicia and her younger brother Hugo safe.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is the direct sequel of this game, and will take place six months after the events of the first game, featuring many of the same gameplay loops and mechanics, but expanded upon with new elements added to the combat system, which was fairly minimal in the first game, as it placed a primary focus on stealth.

In Requiem, Hugo and Amicia will travel to Southern France, seeking a cure for Hugo's blood disease. Some screenshots and gameplay has been revealed, and some of the environments that players will navigate through look particularly stunning.

The manner in which you choose to navigate through enemies in Requiem will change Amicia's behavior and dialogue. As she is is still only a teenager, opting for a primarily combat focused approach and using lethal force against your assailants will take a greater toll on Amicia's mind, as opposed to using mostly stealth to get by.

The emergent gameplay seen in the first game, particularly using light and darkness to manipulate the swarms of light-averse rats to open and block paths, or deal with troublesome enemies, has been expanded upon, with Hugo able to make use of his newly found powers that were discovered in the latter stages of Innocence. To avoid spoilers for those who still haven't played Innocence, I will not expand on that aspect further.

Those looking forward to continuing the story of Hugo and Amicia will not need to wait too much longer. A Plague Tale: Requiem will release on October 18th for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch via the cloud. Players can preorder the game to receive some bonus cosmetic items for Amicia.
