The Horizon Zero Dawn Remake Isn't Looking Too Popular
There are pretty solid rumours that Sony is planning to remake Horizon: Zero Dawn, a game that only released around five years ago.
This news has led to some pretty funny reactions from gamers, many of whom are quite clear that this game definitely does not need a remake, and stating that this looks like a blatant cash grab.
Remake on the Horizon?
MP1ST and the Video Games Chronicle have both reported that a remake of Horizon: Zero Dawn is in the works, according to their sources.
While there has been no concrete announcement from Sony or Guerilla about this yet, these leaks do seem to be pretty solid, and the timing is also quite curious - with Netflix reportedly working on a Horizon Zero Dawn series.
The thinking from many gamers is that Sony has decided it wants to release an easy "remake" of Zero Dawn, which will really just be some minor technical and graphical improvements from the initial 2017 version, in time for the Netflix show. This seems like an easy way to capitalize on a fresh wave of interest in the franchise and earn some easy profit.
On Twitter, some users pointed out the recent trend of Sony releasing lots of similar remakes, which in most cases are not true remakes but a fresh coat of paint on the original version - examples of this are The Last of Us, Uncharted and Spiderman.
Others asked if it wouldn't be better if Sony instead created remakes of much older classic games, such as InFamous and Killzone.
And of course, some were just taking advantage of a great opportunity to post memes about the situation:
If the Horizon: Zero Dawn remake is indeed real, then it's fair to say that it hasn't gotten off to the best of starts.
